What projectors did you use? I'm thinking of doing something similar with my car that has a Ecklers front with duel rectangular lights with covers.

Update on the interior design and fabrication. Note that I am so committed to perforated steel as interior structure construction, that I gave my finger a rad branding as a memento. That's dedication there boys! Long, artfull process this way. Just like I built my '80 custom vette interior with. But it's a strong, lightweight sub structure that foam and upholstery glues well to. Haven't seen it done anywhere else like this, but I doubt I'm a pioneer at it. This '63 interior is gunna be freaking cool. Obviously a heavy nod to the original McD double-arches, but with a lot of differences. With a mostly-stock body and how classic the mid-years are, I didn't want to go all futurama on this one. I look forward to showing you all updates as the fab continues.

great work! I agree about the looks of the 'lights up', it's a bit 'froggy' in contrast to the sculptured lines of the C2. Fantastic design&engineering of your alternative system. The interior is not going to be less spectacular

Default Sweet Interior

I love what you are doing with this car. I have been watching for thread for a while.

Here is a consideration. What about glassing over the the dash and console and finishing it to match the body? How sweet would that look?

I think your car is going to be the best I have ever seen. I enjoy your craftsmanship and ideas. It is amazing the talents the folks have on this site.

Default I don't count my hours for my own sanity...

This dash fabrication is wearing me out, but I'm enjoying the challenge.

Default Cool Ride

Could I ask what hospital that car is in? Draw curtains, spotless floors all tools stored perfectly. The surgeons work is without question. I am soo impressed with the whole thing.

Default Headlight design rendered

A friend of mine is a talented young man and he's offered his services on getting some rendering done on my project. These initial ones represent a stock '63 roadster with my headlight units. We'll see how far we'll have him go on rendering the model to match my project. Pretty sure I'll have him model my interior once I'm completed. Also love to see the SRIII chassis under it. Dang it, now I've got another project that I don't know when to say 'enough!'.

Default interior design & build

Finally moved onto the center console fabrication. The dash is far from done, but it's nice to get down to the console after weeks of work on the main dash. Funny thing, the stereo deck I used to build around ran out of 'loaner time'. We leave for the Islamorada FL a week from today and I had to get the Kenwood unit (with reverse camera) into Tam's C6 before the trip. While working on the C6 stereo install, I found that the hinge and latch components from the C6 should work well with my '63 center console door. One of the few trick places I plan on stashing crap away since space is a precious commodity in C2 roadsters.

Very cool! You know, at one point i hated red interior, but now I love it when combined with silver. Funny how taste can change over the years.

What are you up to with the seats? In my opinion, seats for the C2 restomods are always a major obstacle. I really dont like the way any of the newer seats fit or look unless they are heavily modified and half the time you can't use most of the features on them after the modifications. Im starting to move towards using stock seats and adding 100.00 seat heaters to them. I'd much rather have the manual seat than a later model power seat that can't be moved far enough back to accommodate taller drivers

Red is VERY hard to pull off well and I'm going to give it a try. I've always been drawn to a pearl silver with red vette. Places a tough call on ragtop color, but I'll most likely go safe with black.

ProCar Rally (procarbyscat.com), but I'm going to fab lower-profile head rests and maybe alter the padding as well as some other 'vintage look' changes. They feel okay as-is though. Welded-on brackets to their tracks to keep them super-low. Good idea on adding seat heaters! Got a good source that you've tried out?

Work has had me slammed for a few weeks, but I’ve made some progress this last week. Machining the custom center console latch and more perforated metal crafting on the center console area. Getting close to start fabricating the center sheet around the shifter and on up to the windshield. Still looking too much like original??

It has been tried many times but it is hard to beat the original concept of the C2 dash. I think you are smart sticking with what you are doing. The extra width you have added in the middle is a big help so you can install a decent in dash head unit with display. The biggest limitation of the factory dash
set up is there are no ideal choices for a head unit because of the narrow width when it comes to the resto mods.

Default interior design and build

I’ve had a great last few weeks getting some evenings in on fabricating some console and dash pieces. Still a long ways to go, but enjoying making my concept drawings come to life. This is way more fun than scraping 50 y/o gunk from the underbody!
