Chris;

I assume you know that Keen Parts now has repo rear window trim moldings available. I just noticed their ad in the latest edition of The NCRS Restorer.

Great job on bringing a dead car back to life.

Yes I did. I plan on ordering a set in the very near future. Thanks!

Onto the very time consuming remaining items.
Headlamp buckets have been blasted and painted and now I’m putting the interior trim into primer while the car is at the alignment shop.
once again I must post photos in a different post because after I type text it won’t let me chose the photo option. Just FYI moderators. Just letting you know. This is only an issue when posting from my iPhone.

I sanded the molding and sprayed with vinyl dye today. The vinyl dye is about the most toxic smelling product I have ever used.

The stock valve covers with the thick gaskets, which were necessary to clear the roller rockers, were leaking in the middle. To resolve the problem, i purchased a pair of high rise valve covers from Corvette Central.
Unfortunately, they have a breather shield cast into them and it was hitting the valve springs on both sides. I spent about an hour on each cover with a carbide bit grinding away enough aluminum to gain clearance.
I installed the new covers with stock thickness valve cover gaskets and all leaks appear to be resolved.

Looks sharp! I will say, I used the pricey Fel-Pro gaskets on mine with the factory valve covers and have had ZERO leaks since the swap.

The fun continues...
The former painter I used in the past barely sprayed any paint in the hinge pockets and the door hinges were more or less left bare. I had rebuilt the hinges with reproduction bushings and they were sagging causing the driver’s door to sag, so they needed to come back out anyway. To correct the problem, I cut the flange off the replacemt bushings and drove two of them to the center of the hinge and then installed two more. The doors don’t wobble at all now.
However, part, or most of the problem with the driver’s door ended up being the rivets that hold the metal reinforcement to the fiberglass. My friend Andy machined down some special bolts for me and made them look like rivets. I replaced 6 rivets in the driver’s door and 4 in the passenger door.
I then sanded, primed, and painted the hinge pockets and door hinges.

Also, if you have a 63, it helps to grind down the metal in the hinge pocket so that the hinges can be installed without chipping the paint. I’ve had this problem on all three 63 Corvette’s I’ve owned/built.

. You will have to help my dense head on this one, what are you grinding down? Anything that preserves paint is good, but I am not understanding what you ground down.....help the old man understand. Regards, Herb

Herb, I used a carbide bit to trim the metal at the top and top exterior corner of all the A pillar pockets. I’m pointing to the areas in the pictures above. The pictures were taken before I removed any metal. The metal protruded past the fiberglass, so I simply ground it down even with the hinge pillar panel.

I sent her home after a month of work today! This car is just absolutely fabulous. Next to a restomod, this as good as it gets. The van steel suspension upgrades, Holley stealth efi, and wilwood disc brake conversion are just amazing.
I built this car for my father who is almost 71. I hope he can enjoy it for many years.

I've been having the same issue from my computer. Oddly, I can post photos and videos from my phone with no issue.
