1960 fuel pump
Help,
I am in the process of replacing the fuel pump on my 1960 (283, 270hp, duel carbs). I bought a replacement pump from Corvette Speciality (rebuilt original, 58-62 #4656, p/n # 41215).
When I took the old one off, I notice the fuel inlet and outlet are on the front side of the pump (towards the front of the car). The new one has the openings on the other side (towards back of car).
I looked at the 1960 manual and it appears the back is correct. When I google for a diagram, the 1960 shows them on the front.
I ordered new fuel lines from Corvette Speciality.
Now I am not sure what is correct.
ANY ADVICE?
Jim

I'm away from all my documents and maybe somebody else can confirm but perhaps you were sent a 4657...in any event you can "clock" the pump anyway you like.

60 fuel pump
Frankie,
Thanks. I went on the Corvette America website and the #4656 diagram has the openings in the back as well. Do you know if this is how it left the factory? Are all pumps sold meant to be clocked? Does it matter?
thanks ,

Not sure. I would think if you purchased the right year pump it would already be set up correctly.

1960 fuel pump update
Frankie,
Just did a bit more research. The "4656" comes with the openings towards the rear of the car. The "4657" comes with the openings towards the front of the car. Alot of each are for sale on ebay with photos. The one I purchased has the AC logo and the "4656" stamped on the arm. The 1960 AIM refers to the pump as a "4656".
Still a bit confusing, not sure which one is for the dual quad 270hp set up. Perhaps the one I took off (was leaking) was wrong?
thanks again,
Jim

Both inlet and outlet should face rear on your '60. The tank line hose is just long enough to reach the fitting with the ports to the rear.
The stock hard line from pump the glass bowl filter is made to fit the outlet facing rear.
If your pump ports were facing front, it seems that your tank line hose was not stock. It must have been a adapted rubber hose.
