Default C2 side exhaust

I removed the side exhaust from my SWC (obvious not original). I am trying to find out where it originated.

By all accounts the SWC was modified in the 70's. The side exhaust consists of:

1) Headers; surface rust. looks like numbers on them are Hh 68-280.

2) Pipes: Have a little plate welded to them with GM 72974-W. The other one has what looks like G1-W-38729724.

3) The side shields are metal, with fiberglass lining. The numbers on the shields are 39867; 39875; 76893 and 3872260. All the numbers are in the fiberglass which lines the shields.

Probably aftermarket, but not sure if they came off another vette in the early days.

Any ideas,

Jim

It might help some if you posted some pictures of what you are talking about. We can't see what you are looking at to comment.

The header number may be Hedman headers for side exhaust application..NON GM parts! Any idea of how long they were on the car? If they are GM, they may have been sold over the parts counter like mine were in '73 or '74. Dennis

The covers look to be OEM along with the pipes. But they were modified for the headers. If the covers are in decent shape with no big scratches they will be worth some good money

The sidepipe headers are from Hedman, the pipes are GM (modified for the header outlets), and so are the covers and insulators.

Default C2 Side exhaust

Thanks guys. Side covers in great shape, no scratches. Car was modified and never really driven.

Here are a couple of pics before I turned it back:

Any idea what the exhaust set-up is worth?

A very '70's car. The covers will bring the most, the pipes are in the gray area due to the modifications. Headers, little too nothing. See your PM! Dennis

Somebody did a nice job on it back in the day. That was the look back in the 70's in SoCal.
