Default 65 sb + coil wire length

Can someone please give me the length of the coil wire that hooks to the + side/terminal (either solid pink or black/pink stripe wire) as it exits the engine loom harness and heads for the + side of the coil. Is it 8 inches, 12 inches, or what? I think the one in my reproduction loom is too short as it makes contact with my distributor shielding cover when I try to install it.

Car is a 65 auto 327 with factory ac if that matters, I don't think so. Help me!!!

Thanks in advance. Jim

On my 64 original harness (which I replaced) the pink/black coil wires are 16 inches long after leaving the wrapped harness. I believe yours should be the same. Dave

Just as a matter of habit, I cover that wire with split hard plastic convoluted conduit so it doesn't get sliced by/grounded to the sharp edge on the bottom of the top ignition shield. Install that shield gently.

Great idea John. Also a good idea to make sure the coil is clocked so the post is NOT pointing toward the firewall. The spade terminal can stick out far enough to short against the shield. Trust me....

thanks for your replies, I have to do some creative wiring now. Good idea on covering that wire also just to make double sure it doesn't get shorted out.
