Windshield replace

Do not be surprised if when you get it out...the posts are broken at the bottom where they are thin and weak.
Do take your time and pay careful attention to all fasteners removed and where they go.
DO take your time when re-installing the frame work around the new glass and seal. It can be EXTREMELY nerve-wracking.
Hard for me to write anything else. If this is your first windshield frame removal and glass replacement. we all have to start somewhere....just be careful. I have done numerous and I still sweat buckets.
Liquid soap can aid in parts sliding...or even silicone spray.....but when I use the silicone spray...I am far out and away from of my shop outside...and away from the car entirely.
Best of luck to you.

The search feature is your friend. Rich5862 has a nice write up on windshield replacement. On his website also:

Also look for information in windshield gaskets that we both posted.
I agree with Plaidside, the ST-12 is very informative. Every C1 owner should have one..........

Replacing a windshield is not for the faint hearted. You will need a helper and lots of sweat. When you get to the impossible part (there are about 400 of these) STOP. Drink a beer and get a good night’s sleep and go at it again tomorrow.
The problem with all the instruction manuals is that they tell you what to do, not, what not to do! You could very easily find that out if you don’t take your time.
I have replaced countless windshields and my 57 was the hardest ever!
