It has been a long time coming but now we can see a big light at the end of the tunnel. After all the hard work of fiber glassing and chop, cut, and rebuilding it is now time to start putting things together. Yes there are last min. things that will have to be done like maybe a couple late parts to the chrome shop or a small part gets chipped so back to the powder coat company but for the most part we are down to putting this car back together. Getting the body to paint while the chassis is together and awaiting the motor. Then setting the body into place on the chassis and off to the upholstery shop for the interior and back for the final assembly of all the parts that make it one of a kind. I wrote in the article that George has been so nice to build a web site for this build that after the body is painted I will show 1 pic of just the body so all can see the color but after that there will only be assembly information passed on to George for him to post. The reason being is because we gave our word to the people ay Amelia Island Concourse d" Elegance that putting the car in there event would be the first showing of this car. After that we will take a lot of pic and pas them on to George to post on the Forum and the web site he was so nice to build for us. So what you will see is pic of the chassis build and the motor and transmission in place on the chassis with wheels and all and then 1 pic of the body after it is painted and then the next pic you will see is the car setting at Amelia Island complete and being seen for the first time by anyone. Enjoy the rest of this build of what I think was a mistake for GM not to put into production. Click on the link that George has provided and read all about the build and post your feedback here on the Forum.

In case some of you are wondering the color is a Corvette color from 2009 & 2010 called Crystal Red Metallic. It is the closest color we could come to the original color that the original car was painted .

Stunning color and now it's easy to find a formula for it in case you might need to do some repairs in the future.

I just got the wide white wall tires mounted on the painted rims and when you get them out in the sunlight the metallic really brings out the color in the rims and the white in the tires as well. Just think they mounted the tires without scuffing the fresh paint on the rims.

It's been a long time coming but you have to feel pretty good Mike.
" A ROLLER ". What a milestone. Good luck with the final assembly.

If you pull up the site of this last weekends work you can see the color that the Motorama car will be. Or you can go and pull up Corvette Colors from 2009 and 2010 and check it out that way. It is called Crystal Red Metallic with matching interior with cream accent. We have checked and could not find anything that would tell us the original color but from all the pic we have and have seen this is the closet color that we have found. Plus I think it looks great myself. So we are going to make a couple more small adjustments to the body and off to paint it goes .

I will be picking up the new custom made windshield the first of next week. that little project has been a long time coming. Brett did an outstanding job making the mold for the front windshield. I don't know of anyone who has made a mold for a windshield when they had nothing to go from for a pattern. Way to go Brett.

As you all can see by the last post that the door skins are on and the window trim is made and getting ready to go to the chrome shop. The windshield mold is at the shop but the windshield company broke there mold of the windshield so now they are having to make another mold. It should be done this week. The motor and transmission are being built and will be done soon and the chassis is ready to have the trans and motor installed.

Thanks 66BBDriver but without Vettedaddy (Brett) believe me it would look nothing like it does now. He is the guy with all the experience and know how on how to master a project like this. I just pretty much just throw $$$$$ at it and see what happens next. It has always been a dream of mine to have something that is different then other have and I think we have hit the nail on the head on this one. I don't think you will see many people driving a car quite like this one. The motor is being built right now along with the transmission. The motor is an XP motor but in trying to keep the car old style and somewhat original I did decide to not put in the A/C and the car will be rolling down the road on Bias Ply tires with the wide white walls (WWW) which I think just sets the car off. If you have ever seen pic of the original car you have noticed that it has a two tone interior and this car will have it also. I did pickup the windshield Yesterday (Monday) and we will test fit it to make sure there are no problems in the size or fit. The rest of the glass, I dropped off the molds for them when I picked up the windshield. The company making them for us knows we are kind of in a time crunch and have agreed to slide or project to the front of the production like and get it made for us ASAP and get it back to us. Every little bit helps.
