64 Alternator 1100669 (10DN) Bad diode
I am still experiencing that dreadful parasitic battery drain. I thought I had it solved, not. After putting the battery charger on the car overnight, I felt the alternator and it was warm, as was the voltage regulator. So after reading numerous post on battery drain, had nothing better to do today so I took the alternator off the car. Ran some test and found that one of my Positive diodes is faulty. The other two were fine. Where can I purchase one and my alternator is 42 amp. Are diodes specific per alternator or can you interchange one from a 37amp-60amp?
Thanks, Leo

At one time, i could buy a diode kit at NAPA.
You may want to just buy a rebuilt alt and swap out the diode plate and brushes.
The amperage would be determined by the stator.

Standard Ignition parts sells individual diodes or you can get a complete new kit. Any Canadien auto parts store that carries that parts line can hook you up or you can order one. Pilot Dan
