You're Looking at a $6.8 Million Corvette
Even if you aren't a fan of its old-school Batmobile-like styling cues, it’s hard to dispute the rarity factor of a Corvette priced at $6.8 million for an upcoming auction.

DZ, Jim Gessner, et al... do you guys know anything about the history of the ownership of this car?
Also, what exactly did it look like in the early/mid 60s?
Where was it?

I sent a VERY strong email to Corvette Mike inquiring about what happened to the dual air meter unit. I got a reply that it was "safely tucked away". Then I replied back asking why it wasn't included with the car and were they going to try sell it separately for another million bucks!

Who owned it before Rich Mason?
Was the car a different color / looked different in the 60s, do you know?

Rich Mason owned it for several years. Also, if I remember correctly, rich had the dual AM FI unit installed on the engine and Chris Wikersham is the person who did the work on the unit getting it dialed in. Rich sold the car about 2yrs(?) ago to someone (I'm not familiar with) in the NW Pacific area, and that's who Corvette Mike acquired it from.

This is only a $6.8 million car if someone is willing to pay that much for it. If someone is only willing to pay $5 million that that is what the car is worth. Weather it be this car or any other car, it is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it and what the owner is willing to take for the car. That is what it is worth. The owner most always says his or her car is worth X amount of dollars and that is the only price they will take for the car. It could be that they may or may not sell the car for the amount they want. But what ever it sells for, that is what it is worth.

My dad rebuilt the single air meter unit that was originally on the car when it raced back in the day. The dual air meter unit was put on in the Rich Mason collection. But it didnt race with that unit. The dual air unit is tucked away in my dads basement, he just finished rebuilding that unit. (It will go with the car when it is sold. )

Another poster posited that the reason the dual air meter unit was pulled was that it didn't work, a silly notion. Since that FI unit was used by Rich for a long time and maintained by a very competent FI guy in southern CA, I wanted to know if the posting was serious.

WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL, I AM arguing!!!!
As Jim has pointed out, Rich DID race the SR2 with the EXCELLENT working dual air meter unit! Also, as I pointed out earlier, MOST people who know the car, are MOST familiar with it having the dual air meter unit. It IS NOT my car, the owner has a 100% right to do with it as he pleases. I just think it is a shame for the FI unit which was most commonly seen on the car, to have been removed and replaced with a lesser known FI unit.
ACTUALLY, when raced by Rich, he made more history with the car than it did in a previous time.
Oh ya, and by the way, if the engine that is in it now, is what was in it before, it is NOT a 331hp engine (per the advertised engine description), it is a 331 cubic inch engine.
Now, that brings us to another issue (and we can go on and on and on and on and on). If you want to claim it is era correct, then all of the above is NOT, repeat, NOT correct!!!!!!!!!!! It started life as a 56 with a dual four 265 and a low fin. Later it got a FI 283 and was campaigned as such. Soooooooooooooooooo, if it's going to be claimed as an era correct car, the present engine should be replaced with either a 2x4 265, or even an FI 283! Like I said, we can go on and on and on.
