It's a VAST improvement over Old Town.

We arrived Wed. afternoon and left Sat. afternoon. The only thing that spoiled a near perfect event was rain, which came in late Friday night, and continued till 9:30 AM Saturday morning. Then the rain stopped and things dried up.

We stayed at the Residence Inn by Marriott on Harden Blvd. There were numerous "chain" restaurants nearby .... ones that we could walk to. It was a nice, convenient location, about a 5 minute drive to the venue.

I'll get on my soapbox for a brief statement...

As a rule, "old folks", myself included, do not like change. Prior to the event, there was a lot of grumbling about the move to Sun N Fun.

Everyone was comfortable with Old Town, but you have to admit it was small, and had become very tacky and run down.

This new venue at Sun N Fun is spectacular. It's HUGE, and it will be a great venue for the event for years to come.

Chuck
I AGREE CHUCK. But its the people.......and new cars and new friends. I finally went to FRISCO last October. It was fun. TUCSON in March should be also fun.

Default Cars leaving the Hanger, and a COOL 1961 Story

Thanks to Sebring Bill, I got this story about John's '61 Corvette....Live!

about 2 minutes in is the best part.

Rich
p.s. Bill, After seeing this again, after you told me about that couple and John's car, I left without saying "Thanks" or anything. I got so excited I just flew away on you.

"THANK YOU BILL !!!!!"

I have been attending this show since it was hosted at the old Cypress Gardens park. Since then it has been at several different locations. I am hoping that this will be the new NCRS winter show for a long time to come. This location offers room for expansion for vendors, spectator parking and show cars.
Thanks to all the volunteers.... great job. I am already looking forward to next years show.

Russ Sobczak's 61 from Tallahassee was parked in front of the SACC tent right outside the judging hangar and this couple was telling us this story about their car. Ron Dill then related how he had a similar experience at a VA car show when this couple walked up and described a totally different 61 they used to own, which Ron bought 35 years ago and turned it back to original. They didn't even recognize the car because it had so many mods to include different color, straight pipes and a 307 truck engine.
It's a small world!

I agree 100%, Jim.

It's all about the people.

I made my reservations for Denver a few days ago, and we MIGHT be going to Charlotte/Concord for the Regional in April.

Great video Rich.... Boy that previous owner of John's '61 is NOT a C1-sized guy. Looks like he'd be eyeballs-over-the-header when driving.

John was still smiling after the judging so he clearly had the right attitude about it. You go, you do the best you can, you learn, you improve and go at it again...eventually it pays off.

The black 63 Z06 was just awesome - a piece of jewelry....as Jimmy Carter once said, "....I was lusting in my heart!"...

Default Sun & Fun More fun than sun But greater than Old Town

What a Great improvement from old town, more than enough room for a few dozen more venders, plenty of room and need for more food venders, I sold all my stuff without even trying, and had a great time wandering around for a few days....Great to be there...hopfully next year too..
