Help-'67 427/435 HP Cam Bearing
I am posting this for a friend.
He has a numbers matching 427/435 HP with the three original carbs. The engine needs some work, to include cam bearings. He wants to know if the original, from the factory, used a grooved rear cam bearing or a smooth one. If grooved, were all the cam bearing grooved? The block casting number is 3904351.
He really needs help on this.
Respectfully,
George Schaerer

Hi George, I'm pretty sure only the 65-66 Bigblocks came with the grooved cam bearing and it was the one at the rear of the block. I had a 67 435 horse block in my '69 Roadster and no groove to deal with. I'd expect any decent machine shop doing the work on his engine will be aware of this.

George:
The SEARCH function is your friend. Here is one old thread that address your question: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ain-on-bb.html
There are a few others if your search C1-C2 Section for "cam bearing groove" or similar. Also the FAQ Section at the top of the page is a great source of info on all subjects, mechanical, exterior, interior, performance, etc.
The answer is that for 1967 model, no groove is needed/used.
