I'm currently restoring a 59 to period correct. I have a copy of the NCRS Technical Guide and Judging Manual for 58-62 and it specifies that the rim color for 58-62 vehicles is the same color as the car (fawn beige in your case), with the exception of 59 which are black.

I enlarged the first picture and it looks the like the rims are black and not fawn beige.

Maybe someone with a 62 can weigh in on my comment above and validate my statement. If the rims on the car are currently painted black then it's not original in my opinion but a very nice restoration job.

In any event, the car is gorgeous the way it sits and I would be proud to own it (even if the rims are black). Good luck with your decision.

Jill
anything I have read about 58 rim color is that all 58 rims are silver,no other color was used , correct me if I'm wrong.I just had mine painted silver hope I don't have to get them repainted

There's only ONE judging guide for 59's, covering '58-'60; the '61-'62 judging guide is a different manual. Follow what it says in the '58-'60 guide.

I think 58 rims were silver regardless of the color of the car.

I just checked my guide and it is for 58-60 and does not include 61-62. That's what I get for responding without the guide in front of me... My bad!

Quality, original cars will usually be worth more than a restored one, at least to serious collectors. Then again, resto mods can draw a ton more money than either.

Pictures are very deceptive. The paint is much more dull in person than in the pics. it does have nicks in the paint that have been touched up.

It's not for sale until needed repairs are done.

I believe wheel color for 62 was black unless you ordered the big brake option (5.5" wide and small hub caps), then the wheels were painted body color.
