Default Oil Dipstick Question

Mine is a 67 BB dipstick. Is it supposed to have any rubber O ring in the top end of where it shoves into the tube when seated?
I was just wondering as I don't think there is but I was curious for sealing the stick when it's seated in the dipstick tube. Mine is the original dipstick.
Thank You.

Yes. There should be a circular rubber seal in the "hood" of the dipstick that seals to the inside diameter of the dipstick tube.

Thanks John! I'll install a small O'ring in the hood of the dipstick that will seal with the tube. :-)

Default Go to ........

Go to Long Island Cprvette. They actually sell a kit to replace the original seal if missing or badly damaged. This is a common problem (seal damaged or missing on old dipsticks). I have not tried to use the kit, but have definitely needed one in the past and it would have been handy to have. Good luck!
