Default Look What I Found In My Garage

Bought a house with an old two car brick garage. Floor had some cracks in the cement, so I brought in a guy to put in a new floor.

The guy takes a look at the floor and announces, "I think you got a pit under here." So he starts to chip away at the edge and we see this:

We keep chipping and soon we have this:

As we dig down, in amongst the dirt and rocks, we find stuff like this:

They dig and dig... the rocks and dirt pile up...

The end result is this:

I made a 5 piece cover that I can remove in sections.

Just goes to show you... you never know what's under the floor.

Not unless they're in that old coffee can.

Nice find. Just a thought when you use it it's a good idea to leave plenty of room in case for any reason you have to get out in a hurry.

Make you a staircase now! And paint red and yellow around the opening!! Do it now before you fill the garage up! Dont make me tell you the story of my buddie Falling Into his pit and breaking both wrists and both arms.. He looked like the kid from a Christmas story!! He really couldn't put his arms down!!

That is awesome by he way.. Sorta jelly..

This photo reminds me of an episode of M*A*S*H, the one where Franks Burns yells "You can't park a Jeep on top of a superior officer !"

House was built in 1914, and I'm guessing the garage was too.

Thanks for the positive feedback, folks. Here's some more pics of the garage. Suffice to say, my wife doesn't see a whole lot of me these days.

You're one lucky guy to have it. Should come in handy. Are there steps down into it?Dave

I have a collapsable ladder down there that I extend to go in and out. I was going to do steps, but I thought it would eat up too much room down in the pit.
