Lookin good! Just out of curiosity. What materials are they using on the body? I assume the black is an epoxy?

Hey Chris,

First all the body work was completed, aligning doors, headlight buckets and then sand, sand & sand. Next, a gel coat was applied (the black layer) and then it is washed off to neutralize it (not really sure about that part). Next, polyester fiber fill primer the gray layer. Greg T. stated most use only one of the layers he uses both to ensure longevity. Then more sanding and when I saw it on Tuesday he was completing the final prime. Lastly, wet sanding before paint with 220, I think, not a body man

Thanks for the reply on media blasting. Yours is exactly how I want mine to begin body work. I will be building the 415 LS3 based motor for my car as well.

If you don't mind divulging top secret info and you know the answer what rate springs do you have on the front?

Bumper fit looks great. This is a very extensive make over and the finished product should be nothing short of fantastic.
Please don't be shy with the updates and pictures.

I was thinking about 450 for the front on my C1 but I was afraid that might be soft. Thanks for the reply. Seems almost bad to cover that chassis with a body, it's a work of art by itself. I love the really sharp C2s being built by forum members. Great great work!

This was my first attempt at this process and many methods were used. I started on the left by removing all the brackets and then determining how the bumper needed to change. To get it closer near the license plate the bracket needs to be shortened. However to get it closer on the opposite side near the quarter panel I cut the bumper in half removed a 1/2 inch and welded back together. Once you get the 2 ends where you need the brackets in between are much easier. On the right side I decided it was easier to modify the existing brackets rather than starting from scratch. I found the key was to get that inside bracket and the vertical section correct first and move from there.

Adjusting the tip to fit

Removing the brackets with a plasma cutter

Cutting the bumper in half to move the outside edge in

welding back together, stich weld to avoid warping

Inside brackets
