Build Thread 63 SWC Resto-Mod Roadster Shop Chassis
I’m finally getting around to sharing my progress on my 63 SWC. Here is the plan.
Build a 63 SWC that has incredible streetable performance that is a blast to drive. Maintain the classic exterior to about 90-95% original, the interior has a bit more flexibility but must stay in line with the overall car.
• By the best body I can, I don’t do body work and I hate paying for it
• Install, more than likely, a Mast Motorsports 416 LS3 630 HP
• Tremec - 6 speed
• Roadster Shop Chassis
• Baer Brakes, Hydratec Booster
• Vintage Air
Here are some pictures:
Starting point, looks pretty good
Tearing apart
Cut the floor to fit the new frame
Check out the RS workmanship
New floor, pre fabbed, I think they will be selling them
New floor installed
Trans tunnel altered for 6 speed
Media blasted

Very interesting build. It looks like you have a nice foundation to work from. Please keep the pictures coming.

Nice! I have the same chassis on a 67 convertible. It's definitely the most solid chassis in the market, but also the heaviest. However, it will never flex! I really enjoyed driving the car before I took it apart for paint.
Good luck and please keep posting

I just now realized this is your thread, Joe. I guess when I was looking at it at 4am it went over my head.
Those tubs are really nice and they look like they will work for the SRIII as well, so they would have a good market for them.

I had to wait 6 months while they built the mold and they are supposed to have one for the 6 speed trans tunnel as well. High quality work on tub about a 1/4 inch think with additional body mounts over the rear axle

I thought I would provide an update on the project.
Pulled the body back off and placed it on a cart so I could practice some small glass repairs.
Ordered Ricks Gas Tank, T56, Quicktime bell housing
Filling in HVAC
Beefing up the firewall for Hydraulic Clutch
mocking up motor, Mast Motorsports 416CI LS3 605HP
Mcleod Twin Disc RXT and Flywheel

Very nice! I'm getting close to stripping my body. Can you tell me about the media blasting.

I chemically stripped the outside and Roadster Shop had someone do the underside while they tubbed it. You have to find someone who has done it before, using soda as media can have issues so the correct media is critical as well as the person doing the work.
