Heck, if GM was serious about a mid-engined Corvette for '63, all they had to do was build a space frame incorporating the coming '65 Corvair transaxle hooked to a 327 and cover it with a choice of Chaparral 2 coupe or roadster looking body, and sell over 20,000 units.

Yeah - except they were still adhering to the racing and performance bans back then and even forced Zora to dispose of the Grand Sports....
