Hood release handle - 66 coupe
Anyone have a solution as to how to re-attach an original hood release handle to the cable? Mine has come off. New replacement handles are not the same shape as the original, which also has the same shape as the brake release handle. Also new handle are attached via a set screw, the original does not have a set screw.

They can be epoxied on. I just had to epoxy my original '63 hood release handle back on the car....get the stronger two part stuff from the hardware store; it'll work fine.

Replaced my broken hood release handle/cable with a new one. Also attached a small piece of yellow construction string under the hood and hid it inside under the carpet so I have a backup when this one breaks.

My hood release handle came off and I used JB Weld to put it back. I ordered one with the set screw just in case and put it in the glove box. It's been two years and it's still there.

After reading the replies and knowing my hood release handle was bubba fixed with the previous owner using a "Brake Release" handle, I would rather have the wrong handle than a locked hood than can't be reopened.
