C1 overdrive transmission cooler recommendations
Playing with the new 700R4 with a 2200 rpm stall lock-up converter. Bowtie Overdrives doesn't like the single or dual pass heat sink style coolers. They like the integrated coolers in the Dewitt's radiators. Since I'm not interested in tossing my new Dewitts $900 restoration radiator that does not have the integrated trans cooler I was just curious if anyone has a recommendation for a trans cooler, and if anyone has monitored trans temp with a gauge to make sure it doesn't exceed 200 degrees.

I would look for a heat exchanger like this:

(without all the lines you won't use), and put it horizontally below the grill after removing part of that fiberglass panel that fills the gap between the radiator support and front lower body panel.
Or this:

Lots of options out there:

Or do something like this:
This is for engine oil, but it will work for a transmission also.

Be Cool makes a nice trans cooler/fan unit I installed under the body in my 56, mounting it up under the gas tank, pushing cool air through. It worked great for my similar trans. It was very quite, I triggered it on with a sending unit in the radiator, it was so quite I couldn't even tell it was running without getting under the car. Brian
