I don't believe the location of his original '63 is known. There is a reproduction of his original car which he campaigned in the final years of his vintage racing.

Here is Dick driving it in his last-ever race at Sears Point in 2013:

When he stepped out of the car for the last time, an era ended.

I'm positive that he sold the shop a few years ago, but it was my understanding that he still showed up for work several days a week. So your info is that the shop has actually closed its doors and turned out the lights?

It probably did as the website is gone. Sad day.

He sold/merged the shop with another shop called Rodz in Burbank. They (Rodz) are currently working on my 67. Dick works part time at the shop and helps with advice and other errands. I think he is 86. I chose the shop based on the Guldstrand pedigree, but I am having some issues with the owner Mike Donetelli that I hope we can resolve amicably.

Here is a pic with my (3) kids and him.

May God have mercy on his soul. This is terrible news because he was the sole caregiver for his wife who has cancer. Please remember them in your prayers.

Riverside Raceway Museum is willing to host a celebration of life, but no definite plans have been made. The funeral service itself will be private.

I will post up, if that happens, but I also heard the funeral service will be private. I personally have only met Dick's wife once, and I don't know the family.
I was going to try to see if we could get the Lab Coat donated to the National Corvette museum, by pulling some donations to help the family! But only if it falls within my realm to assist in making it happen!

One of my younger Brothers was a GRA competitor and knew Dick actually better than me. He won the night's 1st race with the Enduro cars in front of 8000 spectators Saturday night at Irwindale Raceway and dedicated the win and gave tribute to Dick during the winners interview. I don't know how to post video (have never figured that out yet), but I have video!

Derek

I talked to the shop today, and let them know that there is some interest to attend the funeral and pay respect. They had no info on details of funeral yet, but would get back to me with details if was going to be open. I will post something as soon as I find out.

Geting back to the thread title, Dick's first C2 sponsor was Baher Chevrolet, located in Hermosa Beach. They supplied a '63 Fuelie convertible with Z06 or equivalent separate options. That car was crashed, leading to his trademartk roller skate on the rollbar. Because he was winning races in a "billboard" car, Baher then supplied either another Riverside Red '63 or a '64, I'm not sure which.

Default Update

Apparently the Coroners office has not released Dick yet was the last update that I have from this weekend.

The Family, neighbors and really close friends have already had a get together or send off at the house and ***** and Family are thinking of a public something for the many people that have crossed paths with Dick. He is going to be cremated is what I am hearing.

Dick was not in good health for awhile and ***** is holding on (as was relayed by a close friend of the family). So these final times have not been easy on them. Plus he had the old shop Situation and that mess that happened.

I am going to be out in the Valley tomorrow, and will try to get more updates. I think someone said something about the Riverside Raceway Museum making some sort of offer! I am not on good terms with them, but one of the members here said something about that, so I will try to run that down and relay it out to the Family tomorrow.
