Every time I see a SRIII chassis I realize how primitive and under designed our originals are. I'll be watching, good luck.

Mike Stockdale is great to work with. Always takes time to answer questions. Now I see he's branching out differential styles for the C5/C6 builds. The ZR1 is heavy duty for sure! I read that the weight of the diff by its self with no fluid is 144 lbs. Good-luck on the build . Grant

Stingxray - yes. I think what led him in this direction was the C5/C6 width and people wanting wide tires with stock fenders. I am one of his guinea pigs with this and it is turning out incredible. The challenge was trying to get the diff. mounted with accessibility to remove if it needs to be serviced. This is going to be an awesome chassis when completed!

Three years ago, my wife would have said, "That's a pretty silver car." Now she would say, "Wow, a Split Window Coupe!"

How did you get the windows out with out removing the stainless.
The raised door handle area can be modified. More importantly the 63 doors are different in the leading area for the vent windows where the one year only stainless trim piece goes. Those in the photo are 63 doors.

I figured out that the inserts are a product that came as a replacement 63 roof or section if the windows are there why aren't the inserts. I guess that's how they sell that section

Ok. Now its time to start cooking. Just took delivery of my SRIII frame! I am now a part of the wood wheel club:

Here is the frame with my Z06 wheels and 275-35-18's on the front and 325-30-19's on the rear Nitto Invo tires.

Body is going to soda blaster on Monday and then off to bodywork and motor installation.

Brian - I have been waiting for 5 months to put these tires on. I think I had them on about 10 minutes after the delivery guy left with the frame.

I was wondering about your brakes...did you get Z06 brakes or Willwood...or stock c6? The frame comes with stock c6 (or the estimate I got does)....I can get a set of new GM Grand Sport/Z06 brakes front and rear for $1350....seems like a good deal...they would fit your the SRIII set up, right? (2013 Z06/Grand Sport brakes)...

Thanks
Johnny Jackson

I got the stock C6 knowing that I will be changing to Willwood. I could get a little better pricing than Mike. Only a couple of hundred but it would leave me with a set of C6 brakes to sell

Thanks. I may get these Z06 brakes and have him leave off the stock c6 brakes then.

While I'm asking questions, how do you intend to do the rear floor? Is the body shop doing that? I am going to do it myself. I'd like to do it before the frame gets here....

I am doing the body work myself but I did buy the fiberglass panels and tubbed interior from sriii. I will glass their 4 pieces in. One thing is that I too would have loved to get started earlier but you really need to the new chassis in to best know where you need the clearance. Even the center section needs a little clearance. You may want to start up on the engine compartment and smooth the firewall etc first and do the tubbing when you get the chassis. Again, I too would have loved to get a step ahead but glad I did not.

Thanks - Matt

Took the body to the sodablasters this past weekend. Scariest moment was when the crew offloaded from my trailer with a forklift.

Thanks for the info.I have looked, in depth at some of the photos and event Corvette Joe's video regarding the rear interior modification. I will be interested to see yours. I dont plan on doing much with my firewall....its cleaned up like it looks from the factory...what wiring harness are you using?

Check this link out. They are building or finished a 63 restomod and a bunch of pix.
