'63 Corvette "owner" lapel pin
When I purchased my '63 in Sept. of '63 I returned an owner's registration card to Chevrolet and soon after I received an owner's kit in the mail. From what I remember it consisted of a welcome letter, a credit card size owner's card with my name and the VIN on it along with a gold plated owner's lapel pin. For many years I had the pin mounted in the dash of my subsequent Vettes until, I think, my '97 and newer ones which really had no good place on the dash to mount it. It has sat in my little jewelry box ever since. Back in the early 90's someone saw the pin mounted on the dash in my '85 and made the comment that these pins had become very rare and quite valuable with it being worth at that time about $300. Does anyone know what the present value is or where I might find out more info on this.

I haven't seen any of the real pins come up for sale recently, but I think the $300 number might still be accurate. In the past, I've seen them advertised as high as $500, but I don't know if they're getting that for them.
A friend of mine has one that he wants about $900 for, but it's part of a complete owners packet, with the welcome letter, folder, ID card, jacket patch, pin, and pin box.

Here is a photo of my pin. My father purchased the car new in 1961 and saved the pin in his jewel box for 50 years.. That's the original owners manual under it.

$900.00 , Going once, do I hear $1200 ?
It all comes down to bankers with too much cash. I can relate to a one year ( 62 ) jack, a nice teak wheel, NOS grilles but some of the ads are just plain crazy. An original starter housing, $250.00, used steel wheels, $2000.00, $250.00 for a FI wing nut , and the list goes on.
One member has over four hundred ads for used parts. How can one person have this much stuffed in a parts bin unless its 200' X 300' with two stories. Being the average ( or below according to your standards ) I wish him well but could never afford any of his articles. I'm still at the hobby stage held at bay by common sense.

An original pin was recently listed on Ebay for $146.99. It did not sell.
The days of $300 for bare pins are pretty much over.
