Default Routing Spark plug wires on a C2 327

I'm not mechanically impaired so I just can't believe what I see on my 65 327 is correct. The two front spark plug wires on both sides of the engine are routed between the block and the motor mount!! Surely this is not correct? I can't find any info on correct routing of the plug wires. Anyone have pictures or a reference??

Use your '65 Assembly Manual, UPC 6, sheet B3, and the photos below.

pull the boots down on the dist end of wire, wrap the ends in tape, run through motor mount. Once through, put some vasoline on wire end, put the boot back on and remove tape and clean any vasoline residue, a little dielectric grease and your good to go.

Minor point. Aren't the wires supposed to cross each other in the loom just before the spark plugs instead of running parallel?

Now you're getting picky..............

Most folks probably don't have any idea, but if you run the "R" sparkplugs it probably won't matter.

The rubber wire holders actually have the spark plug wire numbers on them for you to follow.

You didn't answer my question!

I think the wires are crossed in that loom to lessen the chance of breaking the electrical conductor in the plug wire with such a sharp turn.

JUst doing a memory check.

John,

Is the cable tray shown in the pics part of the ignition shielding assembly and therefore would not have been installed on radio delete cars?

Thanks,
-Doug

The wires cross each other on the rear cylinders but are parallel on the front cylinders just as JohnZ has shown.

In the picture shown above by Frank is what a non radio car will have. To see what was added for a radio car that will be in the U69 radio section in the AIM.

That illustration doesn't show the two wire clip on the front two cylinders which is what I was talking about. Item 14 in the drawing. Seems like many/most/all undisturbed engines from the factory, the front two wires were crossed in that clip. Maybe not?

Correct - you will have the 'hockey stick' shielding....the PS is hard to mount with the starter motor on but I did it. The wires still do not cross in the front loom.
Again as shown JohnZ's pictures
