Default 58 - Not enough lip on stainless molding for T-bolt to grab

Hello -

How many times have you gone to put a T-Bolt on your side molding only to find out there isn't enough "lip" for it to grab at the ends?

One method is to epoxy the t-bolt into place, but personally I don't trust epoxy adhering to stainless when there is stress on the part.

So, here is my fix...What I did was cut a piece of metal (just happen to have an old electrical box) that has the same thickness and I welded it on, making an extension. I also had to put a slight arch in the metal to follow the curve of the original T-bolt. I have piece of mind that this isn't going anywhere.

That certainly will work.

is that repop molding?

i never had problem with t-bolts with my original moldings (which i had the dings removed from, polished and flash chromed).

When I took mine apart I found this fix on my car behind most of my stainless around the waterfall, back of seats. I thought to myself why would someone not just purchase repop parts? Then I found out they are not cheap for a set of them.

What was "the fix"? Same thing I came up with?
