1959 seat cushions
After receiving new foam from Corvette America, I had my seats upholstered. I like the look & feel, but now the deck lid is extremely hard to latch and there is no gap between the cushion and lid. The seats look like they're installed correctly. What gives?

Original foam was not as big as today's foams. I just got a '59 set done using new AK foam. Same issue. They will relax a little over time.
Often times upholsterers are not aware to trim the foam at the bottom of the backrest and the rear of the seat bottom. I've had friends bring me their seats that their "buddy" did for them. One time I couldn't get the seat bottoms down and back because the foam at the joints was way too thick. He had to take them back to the guy to re-do all 4.

On the 59, the seat backs must go in first, followed by the bottoms. Even with the new padding, it should not interfere with the deck lid closing. Make sure the rear seat tabs on the seat back are properly locked down BEHIND the seat frames Pilot Dan

I had no issues with my AK seats going into my '58.
The interesting thing is how much higher you sit in the car with new foam. Brand new foam, of any sort, is going to be a lot higher than the 50 year old foam you replaced.
This is just a normal thing. Not a problem. Actually none of us know how the original seats from St. Louis felt.
Ok, someone here is going to tell me they bought their car from new. I just know that's going to happen.

I'm not completely satisfied that I have the right cushion in the correct place. The AIM lists part #'s but I can't find a printed tag or number on any of the cushions. How can I be sure what cushion goes where? Any other way to tell except best fit? They seem to fit good either left or right.

The vertical side with the widest and flat area goes against center/glovebox/storage door.
The narrower side angles inward and goes to the outside against the vertical sill step area.
