Corvette garage…DONE!
It's been a long haul. The initial addition too our home was finished in mid '06 (private school and college got in the way) which allowed me too extend my garage with a bigger area in the rear. Heat and A/C were already in so all I had to do was finish and fines the rest. About a year ago my neighbor gave me a weathered, but rock solid workbench. That jumped started me. I refinished it and that led too painting the walls, which led too locating and repurposing kitchen cabinets. I'm sure you can see the relationship of the wall paint theme too the stripe on my car. Neither of which will change in my lifetime. With the floors being bare concrete, I researched floor coatings. I realized it was not what I should tackle. Got three estimates, then I selected the contractor; Stronghold Floors out of Baltimore, Md. for the job. Money WELL spent! In one corner I built a compressor closet w/full insulation. I will put a hose reel on the side next month. The workbench on the back wall is a combination of kitchen base cabinets with a solid oak flat door for a top. Paid $15 for the door at the repurpose warehouse. All the cabinets came from the area as people were doing kitchen renovations. I spent a total of $500 for all the cabinets. Too the right on the back wall in the corner is my engine crane and floor jacks. You can see the original workbench that I restored. I put my music center on the shelf to the right of my tool chest. The forward area of the garage has cabinets for my car cleaning/detailing supplies. On the exterior wall are two 10' sections of cast iron base board for heat. This system is an extension of the house system and keeps the garage at 66* all winter. A/C is there for the summer. I think you can see the progression of this project in the attached pics. I'll do more pics in part 2. Dennis

Thanks for the note! Don't worry, they ARE stored in the garden house now and always in the back yard along with any other petroleum products. Note the extensive number of fire extinguishers, fore and aft. Dennis

Dennis,
VERY NICE! I do like your approach to carrying the bluestripe theme throughout. If you can, post up a pic showing the floor and the walls.

Looks good! Have you heard of Potomac Garage Solutions? I am buying new construction in VA next year and want to have a lift put in and the floors done. Its only a one car garage, but I can finally get my 67 out of the storage unit! The only other option is to leave my C7 in the driveway which I really don't want to do. :-(

Bluevette67, I have heard of them, understood they were more interested in doing wall systems/cabinets etc. I got estimates from Garage Tek, and TLC Garage Works. Each of these two don't impress me with unsolicited details and their prices were higher. I have zero lift info/exposure except that which is detailed on the CF. The C7 can endure the weather easier than the '67, put her in the garage. Glad to know that another midyear is in the area. hanks for the kind word! Dennis

Dennis,
Great job on the garage. It's always nice to have a comfortable and organized place to work (play) on the cars.
Hope to see you in Carlisle.
