67 Corvette title - take a look
What are the additional group of numbers after the VIN on this title?
The VIN plate matches the original set of numbers on the title.
It's a NC title that has changed hands 3 times in NC, always carrying this extra group of numbers.
NC DMV checked for me and said it was added while earlier titled in New Jersey, but don't know why.
What do you think??
A typo error at one time?? Did the "S" get left off during transferring the title at one time??

I'm from NJ and have seen many a title, They never add additional numbers to the title, they will add a letter for each time a vehicle changes hands. A for the first owner B second Etc.

I'm with SupremeDeluxe.
That's the partial Vin number that would be stamped in the block
If the car retains the original motor.
The first numeric "7" is the model year and the following digits are
The sequential vin number.
How or why it was added to the title???????????
Never seen it before.

Nick,
It does have the original motor with this number stamped. Just curious why it's included on the title. Never been an issue with transferring title.

Jeff,
I don't know how easy or difficult it is to deal with the DMV in NC; in Illinois I think I could get it corrected without much effort. I would try to fix it if possible so you don't get friction from a buyer when it comes time to sell.
Is this a new acquisition?

Jeff, I don't think it would be difficult to get it changed in NC. You will need to get it inspected anyway. Just ask the inspector to make the change. I had the V removed from my 56 vin.

I'm not required to have inspected by the DMV inspector since it's already an NC title. It was already done a couple owners back when it was transferred from New Jersey to NC.
However, maybe I can get the inspector to inspect again and request the numbers removed???

If they go back to that inspection, you are going to find one if two things, the mistake was done in NJ or the inspector listed the engine number on the form and the office picked it up. I don't think you will have a major problem.
