Default All Corvette Drag Meet - 1971 pics

OK, my "Fun Rally" thread was well received, so here's some more old slides. In 1971, there was an all-Corvette drag event at Lebanon Valley Dragway near Albany NY. I had a Vette but it was not on the road, and I did not know a soul there. Therefore I can't fill in any details about any of these pics.

I was using a 35mm, and my GF had a 126 so there are 2 different size pics. The 126 shots have black bars down the sides, maybe I'll learn how to edit them out but for now it's the best I can do. Somewhere I have more pics of the various Vettes NOT competing, there were a ton of them parked all over the place and I'll post them when I find them - one of these years.

There's 16 pics and I'll do 2 posts of 8.

My home track! These are before my time but in the late 70's I raced my 70 coupe every week.

Cool pics! I like the green SWC with the ****-a-delic BB hood!

And to think I wasn't even an idea until 1973....

Lace was popular back then and at least some guys literally used old lace table cloths or whatever to get the pattern onto the car.

Yes sir, I saw an episode of a popular car show where they did the roof of a low rider using that very method. Cool!

Wonder how many of these are numbers matching trailer queens now? Like the shot of the Mustang pulling the 62 with the log chain. Thanks for sharing.

The "drags" are why there are so many restamp BB cars today. The original motors were splattered all over the track. They werent built for it, but they thought they were back then. Especially the 396's Thanks for posting pics though. The only numbers people cared about then were the ones on the scoring tower. I bet they had more fun then too.

Great pics - thanks for posting!

Lots of flares and mods, definitely pre NCRS..... wonder how many of those cars are all original numbers matching top flight award winners now?

I'd also like to thank you for posting these............. I'd love to have been there! One of my highlights of that era was getting to see "ko-motion" in person parked in Motion Performance's shop.
