Default Information wanted '57 Corvette Airbox #4229

Still looking for race/owner information from 1957 to 1960. Earliest history found so far is August, 1960, when
Bob Palese Used Cars of Camden, New Jersey sold this vehicle at auction held by National Auto Dealers Exchange. This car was purchased at auction by Stoudt Chevrolet, Reading Pennsylvania. Jack Arnold bought the car from Stoudt in September, 1960, and raced it during the 60s at tracks such as York 30 where he won the Eastern Nationals in the mid 60s. where did the car go in mid-1957 when it left the GM plant? Also, I would love to know more race history in the 60s and early 70s

Are you looking for drag race history or road racing history? Why are you calling it an airbox car?

We contacted Stoudt and received the original documents (stored in a warehouse for decades) of the purchase from National Auto Dealers Exchange and sale to Jack Arnold in 1960....thanks for your reply.

Bob Palese Used Cars, 1601 S Broadway, Camden, NJ brought it to that auction. We found out he owned a body shop and might have painted the red coves on the white body to make it more attractive for sale. We can't find anything previous to that transaction. We appreciate any possible information. Thanks for the reply.

We are looking for any kind of history on the car...our trail goes cold in Aug, 1960. Earliest info shows that Bob Palese Used Cars brought it to National Auto Dealers Exchange auction. Where did he get the car? May, 1957 to August, 1960 is our blank spot. When Jack Arnold bought the car from Stoudt Chevrolet in 1960, It was equipped with the Airbox on the left fender, open rocker boxes and ducting to the rear brakes, and a column mounted tach. Thanks for your reply

Did it have a quick steering adapter and HD Brakes? Any sign of a rollbar or connection points? Traction bars on the Rear axle? Cut fiberglass for header dumps?
B/M Sports was a serious class at the time - anything you can do to direct the search to either drag or road racing will help, especially in the NEast.

There was no evidence that it was used as a drag car until after 1960, however, it did have all of the above. We welcome any race history, but are really hoping to complete the title chain with ownership info from its production in May, 1957 to August, 1960.
