Default 61 Fuelie 1st time driven since 1967

I thought you guys would enjoy a nice story. This 61 fuelie was driven today for the 1st time since 1967. The car belonged to a good friend of mine who passed away last year. The car originally belonged to his brother who died in VietNam in 1969. He was the original owner. The car was parked in 67 when the original owner went to Nam. My friend kept it in his basement until his death last year. He had been restoring it. His son now owns the car. He brought it by today to show it to me. We took it for a ride. It ran like it did in the 60's. A very neat time capsule. I'm sure my friend and his brother were smiling down today

The plan is to paint it but I just think it looks pretty cool the way it is. Nice to see it back on the road again.

ABSOLUTELY a terrific moving story. Thanks for sharing it with people that definitely care. GOD BLESS the original owner. I KNOW he would be delighted the car is running and being appreciated and it sure proves how durable Corvettes are.

A bit of a sad story, but really cool that the son has it back out on the road!

That's right Pat. It was originally black. Dave Curtis owned the car. His son Paul owns it now.

Young man definitely brought his uncle's old fuelie to the right place. Nice going Paul, and thanks for sharing.

Don, I thought you would like the story and that type of fuelie. He plans to run it at New England Dragway. It pulled pretty good with 4:11's. Felt like 13's to me.

That's a great story. I'm sure the original owner is looking down and smiling, knowing the car will be put to use as intended.

Thanks for sharing and hopefully we'll see some more pics when it has that wicked black paint!

Tom, My friend Dave had gone through the entire motor and FI unit before he died. It fired up and ran pretty good when his son started it. Just a couple of minor tweaks. Dave was a heck of mechanic and a big solid axle guy. He also owned a 62 that he raced with a 400 small block that ran low 10's. That car was willed to his other son Jimmy.

A sad story with a fortunate ending for the Corvette.
It's great to see the nephew bring this FI Corvette back to life unfortunately we can't do the same for our freedom fighters.
Thanks for sharing.
