Default Solenoid to coil wire on '56

I think a wire on the solenoid post pointed to in the picture goes to the coil + terminal.
Correct?

Yep, as long as it does not have a S on it, It should be hot ONLY when cranking to let the coil produce 12v at starting, goes to the same side of the coil with the braided cover, after start the one at starter goes dead and the braided wire takes over at lower voltage.

1955 and 1956 only used one terminal the "S" terminal plus the battery lug .

So I don't need the solenoid to coil wire at all?

If P/W or P/T a 40 amp fuse was used above the heater area under the hood on 56 and 57, you have the wrong design solenoid it's a later one.

Can you elaborate? I understand I have a later solenoid. I don't have P/W or P/T.

55 had no accessories so the solenoid I posted above had no acc. Post . In 56 GM carried the same design over but later they added a post for accessories .So like I said 56 used a fuse type part as a accessory post for a 56 solenoid not having the extra post. But if you had accessories like Power windows or power top. The (fuse) As seen below.
Did I make this clear?

You still need 12v to the coil during cranking. On a '56 it is supplied by the ignition switch so you should have two wires on the coil positive. Both from the ignition switch with one going thru the resistor.
