Default I guess I'll start here-the longshot '67 motor question

Hey everyone, I'm probably going to have a million more questions here to aid my C2 knowledge but here's the first. How do I know what the correct numbers matching block number should be for a car? I was browsing the orphaned parts and documents section and I see motors for cars mentioned that don't seem to be the same number as the VINs. We have a non-numbers matching '67 that my father tried unsuccessfully to track down the original motor for but this was in the days before the internet so I thought I'd give it a shot. I probably would have better odds at being attacked by a shark and a polar bear but its worth a shot. VIN is 194377S115828, how do I know what block to search for?

SB 4 spd, no original paperwork that I've seen (your avatar has a twin btw). The car was stolen (I'm guessing in '69) and the drivetrain swiped. The car was recovered and insurance put in replacement parts. Later, the engine was recovered and they asked the owner at the time if they wanted their engine back and he said why bother? I don't blame the guy, he probably got a brand new motor so why would he want them to put the old one back in? It wasn't a collectible back then.

You can start here:
http://corvette-world.com/page-34-19...g-numbers.html

and it must be a Saginaw cast block, not Tonawanda.

Next you need to know whether the car started life as a 327/300 or 327/350.

The car started as a 327/350.
