Hurst Shifter Question

I know that there is a fix for the stock shifter rattle, but my question is why doesn't the Hurst shifter rattle like the stock one? Isn't it a direct replacement? I want to purchase a Hurst to get rid of my rattle and have more precise shifts, but I want to make sure that the Hurst is the final solution to my rattle issue.
So, what makes the Hurst rattle free? Have you heard of Hursts rattling like the stock?

And I never had a Hurst break off in my hand, like the stock shifter in my 70 Vette did.......
Think you will hear that the stock shifter's reverse lock out system is the source of the rattle.

A Hurst is more of a precision shifter with closer tolerances. It also mounts to the trans, not the frame crossmember. Dennis

On the other hand of the three cars my dad and I have with stock Muncie shifters none of them rattle or make other noises.

Does the Hurst not have a reverse lockout?

My Hurst shifter has the stock-looking 'hypodermic needle' shifter handle but the lockout is fake....you can pull up on it for mental masturbation to go into reverse, but its not required... Its never rattled but I did replace the nylon bushings at the shifter rods shortly after buying the car...

My experience with many Hurst shifters is that if you have a rattle, it is caused by driveline imbalances or out of true issues: worn pilot bearing, worn tailshaft bushing/driveshaft yoke, bad tranny mount/wrong driveline angle, out of true driveshaft(s). When Hurst shifters get a little wear on them, they can get slightly looser, but this seems to make them smoother, and they still tend not to rattle.

Jackfit, do you know which handle number you have? I would like it curved back a little but the handle that came with my shifter is straight and only about six inches tall. If nothing else could you measure the height of yours from the top of the mounting point to the ****?

If you want the stock handle and your Hurst is not the changeable handle one, you can cut off the Hurst handle and weld on the fake Muncie one.

Only cost $79 at Modells, a Walmart type store in the 70's
