CORVETTES OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA /CSC, was founded in 1956 by six Corvette owners. Still very active today. See www.corvettesofsocal.com.

By October 1957, the club was incorporated in the State of California as a non-profit organization. It is one of the oldest Corvette clubs in the United States with over 100 members.

The specific and primary purpose of this club is to stimulate and promote, through group social and recreational activities on the part of owners of Chevrolet Corvettes, the interest and pleasure in the owning and driving of such automobiles.

Visitors are invited to attend our meetings which are held on the 4th Thursday of each month from January through October (November and December meeting to be determined) at 7:30 p.m. at the American Legion, 14582 Beach Blvd., Midway City 92655. We meet in the Auxiliary Hall on the north side of the main hall

Very cool. It would be cool to know all the vin's and see where they're at today. I wish gas was .27 a gallon like then.

Default Fun to watch

Two observations, one, bronze was not as scarce as we think. Second, are those Buick hubcaps on the black car? Great vid and it shows what Corvettes are all about i.e. driving them and having fun.

Looked like fun!
Beside the two imports in the rally, noticed the only import in the background was a VW.
Back when US car makers were king.

Interesting to see so many with a hard top in SoCal. Does anyone recognize the body (or bodies) of water (lake or beach?) they were driving by? I grew up in SoCal (West Covina) and didn't recognize it.

Great video I also took note of the gas prices. Alot of these cars probably still look the same. They were special then and are still special today.

after reading this article in Vette, makes me wonder if one of the bronze cars in the video is this one:

Love seeing all of the 56-57 cars, many being driven by the ladys!!
I have owned many and still have quite a few 56-57 cars, it is interesting to see how low the rear end rides with a couple of passengers on these essentially brand new cars back in 1958. I wonder if they were going on a long trip and had the trunk loaded with luggage, food, & beer, or if they just sat that low originally. Most restored cars you see today sit much higher in the rear, either with new springs or re-arched springs.

Great video and loved watching it!!! It would have been so great to have been involved with the early Corvettes back then, of course, I was only 1 year old at the time of this video.

Pictures and videos of old Corvettes taken when they were new consistently show a lower stance than modern owners think they had, loaded or not.

My car, unaltered suspension, fall 1957 one original owner occupant:

As jrm5657 said, so many restorers get it wrong. Thanks again for posting the great video, SIXTYTWO.

The 58 chev sedan delivery in the background is way more rare than any if those corvettes. Cool video. Check out the other background cars in video....time warp. Thanks for posting.

Here is my latest 56 restoration that is just finishing up. Looks pretty close to the stance of Todd's 57, the rear fender sits down over the tire quite a bit.

Cool film, well worth watching it. Some observations of it.

1. At 0:26, the black '57 fuellie rolls out and lets us see gas has always been high in California. At 27 cents regular and 31 cents premium, that was a bit higher than the Midwest which was closer to 24 and 28 cents through the '60s.

2. I wonder if Beany's hamburgers are still around. Anyone know anything about them?

3. At 0:53, white '55 rolls into the road while looking right instead of left. Trusting, I guess.

4. At 2:08, the salmon-colored car is missing the trunk emblem.

5. At 4:54, not being from California, what is that squiggly line over the center line? Something that indicates a stop ahead?

6: At 5:00, it is clear that not stopping for a stop isn't something new.

I think there were two. The first is Castaic Lake and the second is Bouquet Reservoir.
The video could be The Tourisimo De Corvette rally, 73 Corvettes, 4 different clubs, June 22, 1958.
It was written up in Corvette News Vol. 2, Number 2.

Todd,
It is a fabulous car, came out of California, beautiful unhit original body, rust free frame, dual quad, powerglide, power window, power to, hardtop car. I have had it for about 20 years now.

My summer project is getting the power top mechanism restored, installed and working, Oh boy, what fun.
