Default Tuning slug

On the older radios, there was a tuning slug that was in the tuning coil to fine tune reception. R 66 drifts and thus I wanted to try to tune it in prior to adding an aftermarket unit. Does anyone know where the slug is on these radios?

Are you referring to trimming the antenna??? If so, I believe it is located behind the **** on the tuner side. Just take off the **** and the bezel and you should be able to see it there. Hope this helps.

The location and adjustment instructions are in your owner's manual.

I believe Antenna trim is the correct term. I'll take a look.
Thank you gentlemen.

Thank you gentlemen.
I am pretty sure the trim is only for AM. It is only for reception sensitivity.
If the station tuned is drifting, this is not your problem.

This is true. When an analog radio drifts, it's always because some component is changing value with heat, in this case heat from the vacuum tubes.

The trimmer caps which peak the sensitivity have nothing to do with frequency stability.

YEP, found it, missing the ground plane around the antenna and ground strap. I though the antenna was original, but appears to be a replacement. More $$$$$.
Thanks gentlemen.
