I don't consider 2-3 months long term storage and wouldn't do anything to it other than maybe put a cover over it.

Safety you just never know when something can short out. Have you ever seen a mid year after they caught fire? If your battery dies only after 2-3 months it was junk before you put it into storage

Your clock will run the battery down. If you need to purchase a trickle charger, research and read what is out there. Dennis

Storage
It's always a good idea to remove the battery from an unattended car stored for a few months. I had some electrical as well as vacuum lines eaten by rodents. If the battery was there and connected to a trickle charger, who knows what would have happened. Jerry

Mine's been sitting for 8 months now (and may end up sitting another year). Just disconnect battery and put on tender.
Our cars get stored at least 4-5 months every winter this way, no issues.
