More Borgeson Questions
I am considering taking the Borgeson plunge for my '64 coupe. I am running factory power steering and 255/17's in the front. Is it advisable to remove the power steering unit and go fully manual instead?

What is it that you are considering? I certainly would not go back to manual steering with 255/17s on the front!

I'm not entirely sure of what you're asking either. My 67 had stock PS before I went to the Borgeson unit, so I have my stock PS pump running to the Borgeson box.

Sorry for the confusion. Can I (or should I) remove the power steering pump and run in the "quick steering" linkage position instead? Just looking for options as the PS pump always seems to leak after a while.

NO. If the power cylinder ram is still in place, you can't use the manual steering tie rod end-to-knuckle steering arm location (the one furthest from the spindle), as the manual steering geometry will allow the cylinder ram to over-travel, damaging the rod seals. That's why the factory installed the big aluminum rivets in those manual steering holes in the steering arms on power steering cars, so owners and mechanics couldn't do it by accident. See left side of photo below for the factory aluminum rivet.

Not to hijack the thread...
Considering add Borgeson to my car. I have vintage air on my car and the a/c pump is driven off the outside crank pulley...If I add P-S will I just need a longer belt and run the ac and ps off that same outside pulley?

It goes on in addition to the two-groove pulley you have now.

No, you will need a pulley like this: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Lightw...evy,73981.html

I didn't even know they had three deep lower pulleys...so that answer begs this question, isn't the borgeson kit designed to be driven off the second pulley? If so...you must have to move the pump away from the engine as well...does the kit have an option for that? TY

That's 'cuz power steering was never available with the L-76 engine (because of the oil pan), and the L-76 used different crankshaft pulleys. If you use standard or L-79 crankshaft pulleys, the "add-on" #3 groove pulley to drive the power steering (used on all production power steering applications) will work fine.
