Worst case I would have shown up for the car (which almost happened) and they would have either paid me or be explaining to the State Police where my stolen car was.

I'm pretty easy going -- until I'm not...
Easy going is the healthier approach.
Would you ever consider doing business with them in the future?

Glad for the Happy End, Frank
What a story...at least this corvette was saved from being exported, which is not the case for my SWC (cross fingers...)

Wow - just caught up on the epilogue of this..

I saw the thread kicking again and just assumed it was guys razzing Frankie about the sale some more...

Were you able to figure out how long the guy held the money for?

I'll ask the question everyone is thinking: Isn't it WORSE that you will have to see the car around now?

Frankie - I'm curious of what transpires under the consignment. Did you sign over the title, give a bill of sale ? How did they transfer title and ownership to the buyer ?

Different outfits have different practices. Just Toys held the original title sort of like Mecum's does. You sign a limited Power of Attorney that they can act on your behalf for the sale. They sell cars for owners all over the world, if they didn't do something like this the logistics of completing a sale would be a nightmare...

No Bill Of Sale involved.

The contract was very straight forward; at no time did I feel I wouldn't be able to legally force the issue for recovery of my stated money or to retrieve my car....(an attorney friend looked it over). Its just too bad they went down this duplicitous avenue and jaded me on an otherwise decent business experience.

No pun intended, I thank you for the frank answers.
Would be nice if one of the principals of that business is a poster or lurker here reading this thread and he appreciates how sharing your experience can affect a small business.

I figure the outfit had the extended use of the funds for about 2-1/2 weeks and might have gotten to 3 weeks before I showed up on their doorstep. My pal Bill cut their game plan short.

If I see the car around I'll be fine with it if the new owner is taking care of it. I would hate to see it go downhill as its just a great car and deserves proper maintenance. After all, the new owner's son taking automobile votech training from wmf62 (Bill) may be a good sign that that will be the case

Hey Frankie,

I've been following this thread, and then a sudden twist.

Glad to see you were able to get your money, but.....what a bunch of Azz Hats to do business like that!

Also, nice to see you list the firms name!

Now you have to follow up and give them a review on their site.

Pat
