About to buy a 62...Hope its worth what he wants
Okay, so I posted before looking for a C1/C2 in the past. Have looked at quite a few cars over a few months, and believe me...Checked craigslist/autotrader/ebay/probably every online publication you can think of. Years ago I have owned a 64 roadster, a 66 roadster, and a 59. Of all of them I loved the 59. It wasnt perfect "very nice body and paint, good chrome/stainless/drivetrain/interior" when I drove that 59 I loved every minute of it.
Flash forward to now...I have found a 62, numbers matching, dual top honduras maroon corvette. Current owner has had it for about five years and within the last two, complete paint "paint is an 8-9/10 all chrome/stainless/trim refinished or replaced. Engine and trans rebuilt three years ago with very little mileage. Completely refinished interior, new top, new wiring, weatherstrip, suspension components, added disc brakes in the front, and has an alternator instead of a generator.
I have been under the car "most bonding strips intact/rust free frame with no signs of damage, no leaks, nothing looking butchered...but nothing that looks like anything is hidden.
Everything works as it should, car drives out tight "a little bouncy" but my 59 was the same way.
So here is my dilemma..I am about to pull the trigger. Owner is somewhat local "believe me, if I had the time to chase every car that sounded like a good deal, It would leave little time for anything else. I am very familiar with these cars and no...its not a NCRS car, but a very nice driver with above average paint/body. He was asking $55K, but I have him down to 52k...Does this sound like a good deal?

Oh yeah...bottom of doors don't line up perfect...but I know this was a problem from factory with fit and finish...also not much history on the car. Previous owner had it for several years and history unknown after that

$52 isn't bad if it's a nice car, which it looks to be in the pictures, anyway. You can buy a nice car for $48K, but by the time you put tires on it, fix a few things and make it right you'd eat the difference up in a hurry.

I just sold my '61 (although it was a factory dual quad car) for substantially more than your $52K figure (but it took a while). If the car is as you say, its a good deal. They could have done a cleaner job with the alternator wiring though...

You will be upside down in it immediately

Sounds like a fair deal, go for it! Beautiful color and car.

Drifting
definitely not a loser at 52k with all refurbed parts, not a bad deal, especially if body is nice, no rot on rear crossmember and strut rod welds not cracked. Disc brakes and alternator are the only drawbacks. Does it overheat? Original radiator? 327/300 best engine ever.
What rear gears?
All gauges work and windows roll up and down?
One key for all locks?
wonder if the wheels are original to the car?

If the car is what you want and like the car buy it. From what I see in the pictures it is a great looking car and the price is well within the range it should sell for, as long as you and the seller agree and are satisfied with the deal it is a good deal. Bill

lol appreciate the input/cheers/jeers
Going on friday to double check a few things and make sure its what I want
Looked over frame and looked very good but forgot about the welds on strut rods
Feel free to comment on things I might forget
And yes...all gauges work/clock/radio
Going to let it idle for 10-15 minutes and check temp
Windows/up down okay, top is stiff due to being new-he leaves it up
