Default Replacing battery in '65 coupe

I've confirmed the battery in my coupe needs to be replaced. I've ordered an AC Delco replacement.
The GM Engineers made it easy to remove battery; lift car, remove left front tire, install jack stand under frame, remove access panel bolts, remove battery. I had it out in 12 minutes.

The hard part is the grunt work of lifting the new one and get it positioned in the battery tray. Any helpful hints? I don't have a helper close by.

New 40 month battery is $208.88 CDN.!

That's way too much to pay for a battery. Last one I bought two years ago from Total Battery was less than a hundred bucks. There should be one close to you....they're across Ontario. I buy all my batteries from them. Even Can tire is cheaper than that for their best.

I just used to loosen the aluminum tank off the wheel well and bring it out the top. Turn it on it's end side and up and out. Easy.

Yep, I better look around. I'd like to replace the AC Delco with another one. Not every place sells AC Delco.
On a '65, the battery is on the drivers side. The aluminum tank is on the passenger side.
I think that's why i have an access panel in the wheel well on the driver's side. Otherwise, it would be a bugger to remove.

Once you get it through the opening, lift and position it from the top side. Is it an a/c car or do you have a 396? Your profile says 63, but could be different by now.

Always try to include engine in your posts. Big block cars have the trap door driver's side, small block's on the opposite side, no trap door in the wheel well.

Small blocks with A/C have the battery on the drivers side just like the big block cars.

Be sure to take your top battery frame to assure the battery will fit. My local dealer had 3 different Delco batteries and only one would fit without trimming. The handles are usually the problem. I had to take the first one I bought back.

I have the 396 car also, still put in from above, first lots of fender protection, l remove clutch rod to make more room, Nice to have AC delco but still not factory original, Just replaced mine here in Canada with Walmart battery, $99 plus tax, always had good luck, just peel off stickers and you have a black battery, good advice to measure battery tray dimension 1st.
