Beach Boys 63 not fuel injected
Check this out even the color is suspect the song they sing says Fuel injected Stingray racing super stock Doge.
I met these guys at a concert in Maryland back in the day. I have there autographs somewhere. Look like no emblem to me
for the injection.

Yeah the car pictured isnt injected like the song said but they probably didnt think it was important.
The song was about a drag race between a FI Vette and a 413 ram induction Dodge.
In the song the Dodge got the early lead but they never revealed who wins.

They also posed in pictures with surfboards but didn't even surf...(well maybe Dennis Wilson a little).
They are a band and these were album covers and promo shots...

As far as the car not being a fuelie, I have more bad news for you. The roaring engine sounds you can hear in the background, during the song "409", was actually a 348. Gary Usher who co-wrote the song, owned a 59 348 Impala, and it was his car they recorded for use in the song.
You just can't believe anything about Beach Boys.

There is actualy a pretty good previous thread on this subject, which includes some pretty cool pictures from (older) people who were actually there and knew some of them. Use the search feature if you care. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...sting-ray.html

"She's real great, my 3-4-8" just does not have the same catch to it!

Music is like television and movies....artistic entertainment. I always had a problem with 'Shut Down' because I never thought a FI 327 could hold a candle to a superstock Dodge of that era in the quarter. Then I got on this forum and saw guys like Donny Brass running wild times with basic small block cars. And as for the Little Deuce Coupe doing 'a hundred and forty in the top end floored', no way. Not with a flathead and geared as described in the song! A favorite old car song of mine (and movie) is Robert Mitchum's 'Thunder Road', along with the 1961 instrumental 'Stick Shift' by The Duals.

Yes, Dennis Wilson was the only original band member that surfed. Bruce Johnston, who was a member later on surfed and actually still surfs today.

One that could've actually described a real scenario - the Rip Chords- "Hey Little Cobra". Probably not a favorite with us Corvette types, 'tho......

According to early info Dad had, the prototype Cobra was built with with a 221 cid engine............but by production time the 260 cid was installed. Quickly changed to 289 and then 427 and 428.
My older brother had a chance to trade his 1966 Corvette convertible for an early Cobra straight up. He didn't so it............probably regrets that now.
