Default Bargain Z06 Tanker?

Anyone know this car that went for $230K + commission at Mecum yesterday? Looks like a low price, but not much info on it.

I had someone look at the car for me and was advised to look for another car.

It sold way below the estimate. We have to keep in mind though that estimates are basically used to entice a person to consign.

When the car won't reach the estimate Dana goes to work. This far below the estimate is suspect the seller had no guarantee. Dana must have done a great job of talking the seller down.

The car had no NCRS or BG credentials so in my mind the price was fair. Maybe even a little of the high side.

I think I judged that car at Bloomington in the mid/late 80's. Built by a guy in Detroit as I remember.

Previous owner may be deceased?

Mecum didn't seem to mention any BG award. Maybe I missed that. It's possible.

The Mecum description mentioned nothing about any paperwork or provenance or judging awards, usually if they have them they say so. Also it says "matching numbers" but we all know what that could mean. And the restoration was old, tired, and looked amateurish. Add that all up and the price may have been about right or maybe a bit high.

This may not be the same car I was thinking of.

Strange because I wouldn't think there are two cars with the same odd options with Z06/N03. Especially the 2 bar knock off wheels and no radio.

I do remember that the owner of the car I remember died shortly after the Bloomington event and there was some issues with ownership.

The car I remember was not a real Z06/N03.

I looked at the car on Thursday and I was not impressed. There was no info other than 63 Z06 Tanker on the bid sheet.

I think Rick Brown from SFO knows that car. It was built by a guy from the same area named Jack Parker in the mid 70's.

Do you mean "built" or restored?

If it's the same car I looked at in SFO in about 1976, it's built. And not done well, at all.

Pretty sure the 2 bar ko wheel nuts came from me or Richard Buxbaum.
