Distributor Shaft Dimple Not In Line
Took my distributor out today, and noticed my dimple does not line up with the rotor tip. Its not 180º out either. With the rotor pointer at 12 o'clock.....the dimple is at 3 o'clock....or about 90º out. I thought they were suppose to be directly in line. What gives.....wrong distributor rotor?

Without looking at distributor parts sounds like either the mainshaft or gear has been changed.
I doubt the rotor is at fault, find some pics and see if the drilled hole through the mainshaft is in position like other shafts as that may give you a indication what's been changed.
How does the vacuum control line up on the intake manifold between the coil bracket on one end and the intake runner on the other end. Ifit's somewhere in the middle or near the coil bracket I say it's good to go.

Here are some pictures that might help you figure out what is wrong.
These are from an article I did on distributor rebuild.

Non-GM cams can also show that anomaly, as the indexing of the pin is not understood in the aftermarket, was never explained by GM, and only matters on the Corvette due to the requirement for advance can alignment with the vacuum advance opening in the upper ignition shielding.
