Default 67 factory air problem

I have a 67 factory air car-327-300 auto it wouldn't take a charge- was blowing just air so I pulled it apart- blew cleaner through the lines , the evaporator, the condenser, and installed new oil, replaced the expansion valve, it already has the old air poa valve replacement, new drier and new compressor. it wont take a good charge and is running upwards of 300-350 psi on high side and 60-70 psi on low side with 65 degree air out of vents. it is still r-12 system. don't know what else to do with it. is there a hidden part or screen I don't know about. possibly the condenser although I blew fluid cleaner through it. any and all help appreciated. really hate to convert to 134 or vintage air??

When you say it "won't take a charge", do you mean that with the system vacuum pumped down close to 30"Hg, it won't draw in any R12?

Little more detail will help Larry and I help you figure out what's going on.

vacuumed it for an hour and would only go to 22psi- it held there for 2 hrs then took in very little Freon. it finalyy would run the compressor without jumpering the low pressure swith wires to each other.friend of mine says possibly the condenser but when I blew the lines with the fluid they blew clean ( or so I thought) im at a loss on it and not sure where to go from here cause I don't know if their are any components inside up under the dash that could be causing it. when it is running I can see the tinted (with dye) oil in the sight glass- appreciate your help

It should pull down to 29.5" HG and hold it for an hour or so with the pump turned off. There is an issue with the pump or a leak in the system if you can't pull total vacuum....you have to start there. 22"HG is not sufficient and indicates weak pump or a leak.

I recall now that '67 does not have the same service port configuration as earlier years.

What does the '67 service manual say about where to connect the vacuum pump and where to introduce the R12?

I assume you have a manifold gauge set.
Turn the pump on and then shut both hand valves on the manifold and see if the pump now pulls to 29.92."
If so then the pump is OK and you have a severe leak in the system or your hose end seals are bad.

from your gauge readings, its overcharged, you may think its not taking a charge, but if your gauges are correct, it is. you should have a sight glass on the receiver drier that is useful to check for system flow.
