Default 1954 corvette ignition lock

On a 54 Corvette with the stock ignition switch is there a way to remove the tip of the ignition (the part you touch with your fingers to start the car) and will it fit on a aftermarket lock cylinder. Thanks.

I don't know the answer but I am curious about why you want to use an aftermarket switch. Is there something wrong with the original switch?

The actual switch seems to be working ok. I messed up the ignition lock cylinder trying to re key it. I like to look of the tip of the original ign. cyl. lock and have seen the individual tips on ebay. I just do not see how they come off. Thanks.

you can remove the outer part with a paper clip
insert thru the hole - push and the outer will come off....
