[C2] 65 on Ebay Vin tag thoughts

Mine has the Rosette or hex shaped Rivets ....Not and NCRS Expert so I don't know if all 65's had them....I would think that the rivets should be the factory rosette type. Also it looks like paint overspray on the Vin tag..???
The Experts her should be able to help.

General type, round, stainless steel pop rivets are used thru approx VIN 7800 (late Jan 1965). For a month or two after this time, a mix of round and rosette rivets are seen (2000-3000 additional cars). Then all rosette rivets.

My knowledge of 65's is minimal (compared to 66-67 cars), but FWIW that VIN tag looks OK to me. I was serious about buying a 65 several years back and had similar questions about the round rivets, which (as Larry pointed out) were used for approximately 1/3 the model year of production.
I am betting this is a St Louis body car based on the appearance of the Z-bar?

This VIN is a mid-Jan 65 car. To confirm the build date, the trim tag date should indicate this. What is the build date on the trim tag?. Bill

My early February '65 car, VIN in the high 9400's, has the round rivets. I think they were all rosettes after about VIN 10,000.

The OP's VIN tag look authentic, but it is hard to confirm 100% with the overspray or ?? done to the tag.
The comparison of the various numbers and fonts looks the same as Plaidside's pic to me. But it is possible the rivets have been replaced sometime along the way.
Check Trim Tag, VIN derivative in the frame, engine/trans dates and numbers to get a better picture of the car's originality. That is at least what I would do.
And also try to clean off the VIN Tag to see the original stainless surface.

EDIT: The VIN also appears to be slightly off-center in the initial pics compared to the one Plaidside showed. I dunno if this is significant or not, unless I see more pics of other original VIN Tags to observe trends. Others many know.

Thanks for the clarity on the rivets.
As for this actual car, I tried no less that 7 times to inspect the car, never available. After the car so called "sold" on ebay, he calls to let me see it, says the ebay buyer is a flake, so I arrange to see it again, more excuses, he would not show the car. Seems he's hiding something, and right in my backyard.
My label for him: FLAKE
Buyer beware.

Yeah, if he never wants to show the car, then I'd be super leery! Also, the overspray on the VIN would worry me...Makes me think it's trying to hide what otherwise might be easily noticed. Overspray is easy to clean off yet for some reason he never has...

Seller sounds like a nut case, and even if you got to see the car my guess is it would turn into a nightmare trying to actually buy it. IF it was even worth buying.
