Default Where to repair head gasket in San Fran Bay Area

Guys I have a 62 vette with some mods to it including a ram jet 350 but it needs a head gasket. It seems there's like West Coast Corvettes in burlingame, but I was looking for opinions on where would be a good place to go?

Thanks!

Any good shop can handle that in one day. I use Rob at Valley Import Auto in San Ramon. Exceptionally good mechanic...and most importantly...honest.

I'm a big fan of Pat Hendrix at Precision Motive in Hayward. He certainly knows the C2 very well. Can't speak from personal experience on C1, but can't hurt to call. He's usually booked up weeks in advance, so prepare for that.

Buy....or borrow, a torque wrench, and do it yourself. There is absolutely NOTHING difficult about changing a head gasket....period!

Many of those late head castings are junk and SBC head gaskets are not typically problematic. Yes, it could be just the gasket but I'd be willing to bet lunch that it's the head.

Generally, small block Chevys are not hard on head gaskets, so I would make sure that whatever resulted in a bad head gasket is remedied in parallel with getting them replaced. Of course, any mechanic worth his or her salt will not install new head gaskets if the heads (or the block - unlikely) are damaged or warped, until any such flaw is rectified.

FWIW, is you're pulling the heads, it's a good time to take a look around the rest of the engine.

Try calling Corvette Connection.
Here is a yelp review and info.

Rates are pretty good and he actually does the work.
