Default Pretty day in Indy

The weather today in South Indy area (Greenwood, In) is outstanding today. Sunny and low 70's and no wind with leaves turning to there pretty colors so I felt that the 67 had to come out from under it's cover and go out for a little ride to roll the tires around and warm up the oil and transmission fluid and the anti freeze as well. So off we went and we got several thumbs up and a few people even waved at us. After about 30 miles I brought it back home and raised the hood and letting it cool down before closing the hood and covering it back up in the garage. Really I just wanted to test to make sure the brake lights do not stay on all the time after I fixed them, and they don't. They only come on when my foot is on the brakes. Before they would also stay on when my foot was off the brake also. So that problem is fixed and I got a nice drive and the car got to warm up and turn the tires a little. Lets see pic if you had your car out for a cruise today.

Several hours later the rain has came but that is OK I at least got to get it out and drive it today for a while. I will not put my car in storage till who knows when. It will always be in the garage covered up and ready to go for a ride weather permitting.

Mike, What was the cause of your brake lights staying on?

I installed 3 brake light switches and all did the same thing. The brake peddle did not come all the way back to trip the little button on the switch so I put a spring on the brake peddle arm where there is a small hole drilled into it and the other end of the spring I attached it to a small support bracket that was on the backside of the brake light switch. Now the brake peddle arm pushes back the little button on the brake light switch and all is good. Other then the past 3 brake light switches it was a $3.00 spring that took care of the problem.

Have a similar issue with a car ( not a Corvette). It is annoying.

Many times , it is the bracket that holds the switch. It fatigues and will move backward. I welded a support piece to hold it at a right angle to hold switch in place.

Beautiful Fall day yesterday cruising the BB '66 out in the colored hills of Tennessee. Heading up narrow, twisty 2 lane in the middle of nowhere, and coming down the hill is a red, '69 side pipe car. We waved, passed each other, and both brake lights came on. We both appreciated the uniqueness of the moment and backed up beside each other to experience the rumble of two old red vettes talking to each other. The older BB talking to the younger SB. I am considerably older than the other driver so I only got 50% of what he was saying. But couldn't mistake the word "Swap" in one of his sentences. When we left I'm sure both cars left a **** mark on the pavement.

Not only annoying but if you do not have a battery cut off switch it could drain your battery down to nothing while the car sets in you garage for several days and is not driven. I have a cut off switch and I use it when I am not driving the car while it is parked in the garage or where ever. Good anti theft device also one thin serves 2 uses.
