Default Coolant "keg" question.

Have a 1966 Vert 327/300. How much coolant is supposed to be inside the coolant keg? Mine is about half-empty (or half-full, depending on your perspective). I ask because I discovered some coolant on the floor and sprayed inside the fan shroud. Car seems to run ok.

Thanks in advance.

half...yours is correct...run it this level and if it still pukes, you need to find out why your car is puking out fluid...

Is there a weep hole near the water pump?

The tank should have a line that states fill to that level when cold.

The tank being half full is just fine. If you have coolant leaks up front, its coming from some source other than the tank.

As stated, check the water pump - the weep hole is on the bottom, behind the shaft -, the hoses, and the radiator itself for leaks.

you must be a Brit.
In the USA it's an expansion tank.
we drink beer out of a keg.
Just as often as possible.
Welcome to our sanitarium.

I'm very American. But it still looks like a little keg. I live in a region in PA with many good breweries close by. Perhaps I am just showing my age?

I guess we could call it a pony keg - but then it would just sound like a Mustang.....

Mustangs SHOULD be flattered. But thank them for inspiring Camaros!

It it's sprayed inside the shroud, it's probably a radiator leak or a top radiator hose leaking into the shroud. I suppose it could be a bottom hose doing the same thing because of air flow pulling the coolant into the shroud from the lower hose connection.

Water pump leaks often show up with witness inside the back side of the water pump pulley.

I'd say that you are showing your inclination.
