While working on a 1954 that sat idle for over 40 years, a Corvette shop owner in Iowa is learning how deeply the passion truly runs for America's sports car.

I can't imagine letting that 54 sitting for 40 years. Need to get that jewel back on the road again. I've had my 67 for over 42 years and the longest it sits, is couple months at a time, in the bad winters...

I can imagine it, in fact I've done it.
I've had my 67 for 43 years. I took it totally apart, everything off the car in 1983 (at the time I also had a '65 and a '76). Started working on in 2013.
Some things (for me) were way more exciting and worth spending all my excess money on than building the 67.

I think he's a little off on his estimate of "1/2 dozen Corvette shops left in the country."
There are 3 within 100 miles of me!
Cool story - similar to mine. Mine sat for 40 years. My dad never intended to let it go that long but life happens......
